Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She graduated with an Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. In 1967 Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed situated in Washington DC. In the following two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. 1981 she started covering at the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to chief congressional correspondent. Mitchell was named chief White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell appeared as both an anchor and a panelist on the TV news show Meet the Press. She was on the panel in the presidential debates in 1988 between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to cover White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan as president between 1981 and 1988. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news stories such as arms control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended numerous summits in the company of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
